Electric Transportation Grids Going Global

I know that it was not that long ago that the idea of an entire country choosing to go to electric cars was nothing but a wild fantasy. Well now it appears that the wild fantasy of environmentalists may be a lot closer that anyone could have imagined. Recently there was an article written about the progress being made in Israel with regards to that very goal. In the article it describes how Israel’s government are taking major unprecedented steps towards and electric car driving population.

The first thing I thought when I was reading this article was the irony that a country that lies in the middle of some of the biggest oil producing countries would be one of the first to take such a bold move. The government has commissioned a company that is based out of California called Project Better Place. This company that was only founded in October of 2007 is quickly on the rise in terms of power and prominence among those countries looking to become independent of oil.

Beautiful Electric Metro, Impressive bumper molding jobBoth Israel and Denmark have committed their governments to creating electric grids and to supply their countries with an electric powered serviceable transportation system. We are talking about everyone in the country using electric powered transportation. With the help of this new company Project Better Place deals are being brokered with power companies and automakers as well as they have already gotten the backing of Renault-Nissan to start manufacturing the electric cars.

These two countries are only the beginning of this electric revolution as recently Project Better Place also announced deals with the state of Hawaii and three major cities in California. San Jose, Oakland and what will be the hub of this state wide evolution will be San Francisco. This may very well be the birth place of a transportation evolution that will be sweeping the country and the world over the next twenty years. I believe as many do out there already that we are clearly on our way as a global movement to get free of our dependency on oil and gas driven automobiles. How long do you think it will be before we see widespread use of an alternative fuel source, either electric or some other form of fuel?
