The 2013 Mustang Ups The Ante For American Muscle Cars

Here we go again muscle car fans thanks to the competition to one up each other from year to year between the Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang. Muscle car fans have been enjoying an amazing resurgence for cars with a ton of horsepower in the face of changing winds that seem to indicate that gas guzzlers are not the way to go.

Thankfully there are enough muscle car enthusiasts out there that the auto makers have been able to tap into that market and become very successful at as well. Now I grant you that the idea of a muscle car being the dominant seller in the age of smart cars and hybrids is a dream of the past. Some how though fan favorites like the Mustang have been able to keep dream alive for a good 46 years now and by the looks of the 2013 Ford Mustang there will be no slowing down for this car icon.

The really big news for this new car year starts at the top with the Shelby GT500 which is getting a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 650 hp and 600 lb.-ft of torque! This car is going to be a beast on the road that is more power than any Chevy has to offer right now either in Camaro or Corvette forms. Now of course you know what this means? The Chevy guys will be hard at work upping their game to out due the Shelby GT500, the question I have is will it be the Camaro or the Corvette that brings the horsepower?

What say you webfolk? What do you think about the status of the muscle car market? Is there really a legitimate need for muscle cars anymore? Leave your interesting responses in the comments section down below and for those of you that are interested in seeing more of the 2013 Ford Mustang here is a link to a photo gallery and even better a short video of the 2013 Shelby GT500.

Kudos to you webfolk ;-)
